"Jimmy Carter" D
This 9' Model D concert grand (#CD-92) is the only piano ever known to have been signed by a United States President! Former President Jimmy Carter signed the plate of the piano on October 3, 2015 during his 91st birthday celebration at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia. This occured immediately following a private piano recital in his honor for a small group of family and friends by Steinway Artist David Osborne who is known as the "Pianist to the Presidents" for being the Official White House pianist for the last 6 presidents. A good friend of former President Carter and his family, Mr. Osborne was once again invited to perform privately for the family.
This model D, known as CD92, was provided for this very special occasion. It was originally manufactured in 2009 in the New York Steinway factory and is a truly majestic instrument with the big, bold sound reminiscent of the true concert piano that it is. This instrument is perfect for a concert hall or a large, open room in a private home.
This concert instrument was also a favorite of many venues that have rented it for performances. Played on mostly in the Atlanta area by famous musicians such as Tony Bennett, Randy Newman and Gloria Estefan, and by orchestras such as the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, it has been meticulously cared for technically and is in near perfect cabinet condition.
