In the late 1990's, Steinway & Sons in New York commissioned world renowned designer and furniture maker Dakota Jackson to create a unique furniture case Steinway grand piano. The result - the Steinway A Tricentennial was unveiled in 2000, designed by Dakota Jackson and crafted by hand in the New York factory. The instrument was created to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the modern piano (the Italian instrument maker Bartolomeo Cristofori built the first "pianoforte" in 1700).

This is an extremely rare find, a second example of which will probably never again become available. Only 300 of these limited edition pianos were ever built for the world market, with less than a handful of them offered in the greater Atlanta area. This particular one is number 151 of 300.

The cabinetry is crafted in the most gorgeous ebony polish finish, with mahogany and ebony satin accents. It's curved lid prop, sleek music desk and unique three-part lid design evokes a fluidity not found in any other piano. Even the leg and pedal lyre design add a unique visual dimension to this elegant furniture piece.

Along with beautiful furniture design, this is also an incredible instrument. The model A 6'2" grand has always been a highly sought after scale and size for pianists, teachers and music schools. The soundboard is large enough for a big sound, yet the size is still appropriate for a home or music studio.

The piano, a single-owner instrument, was originally purchased from Steinway Piano Galleries and has a known history. It includes the matching bench designed for this model specifically and includes full prep prior to delivery by a Steinway trained staff technician. The first free tuning in the home is included as well as a 5 year parts and labor warranty, like new.
