This Boston GP163 Ebony Polish is in excellent condition. It measures 5'4", classifying it as a baby grand piano. It's perfect for a small space in the home or in a teaching studio. This is a Boston Edition II piano - the second generation from the original design almost 30 years ago.

The Boston pianos are designed from the ground up by Steinway & Sons in New York, including all materials specifications. Originally designed for the rigors of institutional use, they were also instantly accepted in homes and home studios, where a high quality piano at a mid-price point was desired.

Since the piano shares so much of Steinway's DNA (over 30 design patents and features from Steinway & Sons), it is a better option than most older used Steinways that are rebuilt with non-Steinway parts.

The GP163 remains Steinway's number two selling Boston baby grand (very close behind the smaller GP156) and has a better sound than most larger pianos due to the wide-tail design. The action geometry is identical to Steinway's famous Accelerated Action and gives the piano a most responsive action.

The piano includes the bench, warranty and the first tuning in the home for free.

Compare to a new Boston GP163 Performance Edition II, the fourth and current design edition. Numerous additional Steinway design patents, including Octagrip pinblock and maple inner rim, differentiate the PE II from earlier designs.
